Kendall's 1st Birthday! part one

Today was Kendall's first birthday. What a day! I can't believe it's been a year... Time sure flies when you're having fun. Today when Kendall woke up I got the first picture of the birthday girl. She was in a good mood. She had her 12 month check up today and is the picture of health, but on the small side. She is 18 1/2 pounds and 28 inches long. She is in the 10th to 25th percentile for her height and weight. Her doctor says she is doing great and can now eat whatever she can get down and can switch to whole milk from formula. Woohoo! Poor baby had to get 3 vaccines today, yuck. But, baby girl was very brave and by the time we were at daycare she was all smiles again. I dropped her at daycare for lunch and a nap and I went to get some vanilla mini-cupcakes for her little classmates to have during snack time. I went back to the daycare during snack time and watched all of them eating their cupcakes. It was a fun time. They all made a huge mess with their cupcakes. Kendall ate an entire cupcake and loved every second of it. She would pick off a little piece at a time and put it in her mouth. She was the cleanest cupcake eater in her class. I took her home after cupcake time and we played and played and played and played and... well, you get the idea. She was on a huge sugar high from that cupcake. It was really funny to watch her run around like a crazy kid. She finally crashed and took a little nap. Then her grandma Carolyn came over and we all sang happy birthday to her with a cupcake that had a flower on it. She was still sleepy, so she wasn't as excited as she was when she was at daycare, but she had fun eating her chocolate cupcake anyway.

The title of this post has "part one" on it because we will be having her birthday at a later date. Plan for January 25th from 1 to 4, invitations to follow. We ordered the invitations today, we made them on Shutterfly. I think they turned out soooo cute and we can't wait for you to see them. See you all soon!!! We'll have a part two to this blog later and add some party pictures.

Christmas Weekend

The day after Christmas we went to Horseshoe Bay to visit Kendall's Mimi and Poppy. We stayed for the whole weekend and had an awesome time! Here's just a few of those pics.

Christmas Day 2008

Christmas Day we went to Mama Gail's and Greg's house. It was a lot of fun! We opened a lot of cool presents and then went to Bill's and Barbara's for our traditional Christmas Dinner of Enchiladas. Yummy!!!

Christmas Eve 2008

This Christmas Eve was spent at my dad and Carolyn's house. My Grandmother Elaine came over, different from in years past, and it was fun! We had some yummy chicken and noodles and took some cute pictures.

Speaking of pie. ha ha... She loves to eat as you can see from the picture. I found these pictures we took last week of Lil K, I thought they were so cute!

As we approach the one year mark for Kendall, I am getting a little nostalgic. I remember feeling her inside me. It has been such a joy to watch her grow this past year. I never knew what this could and would feel like. It is such an all-encompassing feeling. People tried to explain it to me and I thought I understood, but when I look at her I feel something that totally catches me offguard. I would lay my life down for hers if needed. This has been the most fun, emotional, messy roller coaster of my life so far.

Tony and I have spoken about this many times. We are so glad we decided to have this little girl when we did. If we had waited, we may have had a different child altogether or maybe even no child at all. Things happen for a reason and our reason is her. It's as simple as that.

I know this is a more sappy post than usual, I don't usually post my feelings on here. I usually just post what we've been doing. I've been having these feelings lately and just needed to get at least a little piece of it out. Who knows, maybe you'll see more of my feelings on here. Just don't make fun. ;-)

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

how lovely are thy branches. We don't have a tree this year, but you can bet that next year we will have one. We've both been busy with work and the house is still a mess from when we brought stuff home from Tony's uncles house in March or April. I know, I know...

Tony and I spent the past two days Christmas shopping. Oh my gosh did we have a lot to do, we hadn't done much up until this point. But, oh my goodness did we ever get a lot done. I am feeling better about the progress we've made this weekend. I was beginning to feel a little overwhelmed with all that was left to be done. So, we just have about 4 or 5 more presents to get and I'll be getting those when I have off on Tuesday. Now if I could just decide what I want to get. That's the really hard part.

Friday evening we went to Paesano's for my sister Patricia's birthday, we had a good time. Happy Birthday Patricia! I was sad that I left my camera at home so I don't have a picture to post. I set it right next to my purse too! "How is that possible," you ask. Puh-lease, if you know me, you know that I miss things that are right in front of my face all the time. Anyway, Tony, Kendall and I gave Patricia and purse and a new sweater. I thought they were cute. I hope she liked them, she says she does, so that is good!

My mom was nice enough to watch K for us overnight so we got to sleep in a little on Saturday morning. She was keeping her so that Tony and I could get some shopping done. THANK YOU!!! We really got a lot done yesterday. We went all over the place. Hallmark, Tuesday Morning, GameStop, Costco, The Quarry and North Star Mall... Now, anyone who lives in SA knows it is not fun to go to North Star Mall on a Saturday, let alone the Saturday before Christmas. I think some would say we need to be institutionalized just for considering attempting it. While it was VERY crowded and crazy there, we did make it out alive. Phew!!! We went and picked up the baby at my mom's at about 7:30 and came right home and crashed on the couch while watching a movie. We were so tired from our shopping adventures.

This morning we woke up, got ready and went out again. Though I do admit we didn't make it out until about 1:30 due to Kendall getting grouchy at 9:45 and taking a nap until 12:40. We watched another movie this morning and rested up for the adventure we knew we would be having later in the day. :-) So, we finally made it out of the house and went to the new Target at Stone Oak and 281. It is so big and it was pretty crowded, but it worked out great for us. We got all of the presents for Kendall's classmates and teachers and several of our family and friends. So, thank you Target!!! We were there until about 4:45. We decided that we would act like old people and eat dinner at 4:30. ha ha... We wanted to do that so that we could go eat at the restaurant that is over near Target. It is called BJ's, it is where we went for my birthday. I had roast chicken with a baked potato. I brought over half of it home, they give you a ton of food there. Yeah for me, I have lunch or dinner for tomorrow. Yummy!!! Are you done making fun of us for eating so early yet? The laugh may be on you because we didn't have to wait for a seat for dinner.

Well, I guess I better go for now. I forgot I need to label the presents for K's classmates and teachers. Aaaarrrrgghhh!!! ha ha...

Birthday present at work...

Tony got me a new camera for my birthday! It's AWESOME!!! It's a Nikon D60 DSLR and the pictures it takes are fantastic. Enjoy some of the first pics taken with my new camera.

Oh no! Naked baby!

We realized the other day that we had not ever really taken pics of the baby naked. ha ha... Or mostly anyway. So, here's crazy hair naked baby! Man, who taught her to stick out her tongue like that? Oscar?
