The difference one year makes

I know it has been over a month since we last updated the blog, we've been pretty busy. Today we've enjoyed not doing a whole lot and we are looking forward to volunteering at church tomorrow. We've had friends and family down to stay with us and we've also celebrated Tony's birthday. We celebrated Easter and are going to the coast soon too.

Tony took a picture of Kendall when she got home from daycare this past St. Patrick's Day. I remembered that we took a picture last year of her on St. Patrick's Day and thought I would post both next to each other on here to show just how much difference only 12 months (1 year) can make. Our little Kendall is not as much a baby now as she is a little girl. Where has the time gone? We can't wait to see what is in store for us in the future.

Poor Baby Girl

Last Sunday afternoon, after her nap, Kendall's eyes were pretty much glued shut from eye boogers, poor baby. We thought this would be a quick passing thing and that she would be fine the next day. Well, when she woke up on Monday morning, we had to really work hard to get the crusties off so she could open her eyes. Poor baby girl! We took her to daycare thinking that surely this would pass. Ummm... No! By the time Tony picked her up from school that afternoon you could tell that Kendall just really wasn't feeling well. To add to all of this, she has had a runny nose and congestion for about 4 months now. We've been to the doctor several times where they have told us that it is just because she is in daycare and she just has a cold that needs to run its course. Well, obviously it had not run its course and the humidifier that we run in her room on high every night was not working. On Tuesday morning when we all woke up, Kendall's eyes were crusted over again and really red and puffy. I had looked this up the night before on the internet and found that it was most likely the result of allergies. But, I called the nurse at the hospital, which is where the doctor's office routes its medical questions when they aren't open yet, to ask them if I should take her in. They told me that she is probably fine, but that the doctor would want to check her to make sure it is not pink eye. So, Kendall and I got ready and she ate some breakfast and I took her in to the doctor. I could tell she wasn't feeling well because while we were waiting for the doctor to see us she just sat in my lap with her head laying on me. The doctor listened to her lungs, checked her oxygen intake and looked in her ears. After hearing how long she has had the congestion, the doctor finally gave her an antihistamine/decongestant. She also said that she has pink eye, but it's not like she ran any tests, I really still think it is allergies that caused the eye crusties, but I'm giving her the eye drops just in case. Because Kendall has been coughing for so long, the doctor ordered a chest x-ray even though she reassured me that her lungs sounded clear. She just wanted to check her. So, I bundled K up and took her straight to the imaging center after the doctor's appointment. It only took about 5 minutes to take the x-rays and Kendall cried the whole time. Awww... But, good news, the doctor's office called later and said that she doesn't have RSV (forgot to tell you that they checked her for that AGAIN) and her lungs are clear. So, I'm supposed to give her the eye drops for a week and I'm giving her the sample medicine for her cough, if it works I'm supposed to get the prescription filled. It's been 4 days of using the cough medicine and the only thing that I'm noticing is that it makes her sleepy. If she still has the cough in another week and a half, I'm supposed to take her back to the doctor so they can try something else I guess. I'm glad they are finally giving me something for her, I was getting really fed up with the "Oh, she's in daycare" line. I can totally understand that logic, but it seems like she would have had periods of time when she was well also. Oh well, maybe now we can figure out what is going on. I have a feeling that she has allergies (they are supposedly genetic) and that she will need to be put on some allergy medicine if she wants to have any type of time without congestion and runny nose.

Anyway, I guess that's enough for now. Tonight we are going out to dinner with our friends Ken and Kristen for our first annual Double Holi-date. We decided that instead of buying gifts for each other we would go out to a nice dinner. I'm excited! K is staying with my mom and spending the night with her tonight. I'm hoping I'll be able to sleep past 6:20 tomorrow morning, that's the time that i woke up this morning. Yuck!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, maybe I'll write more tomorrow.

Lots of Love,
Lisa

Happy New Year!!!!

Happy New Year to all of our friends and family! This was the first year in a very long time that I have actually been in town for New Years. It was funny how loud it suddenly got outside when it turned midnight. Usually we are at the coast or the ranch and since there is no one around there for miles, it is super quiet. We had a quiet night in and watched a movie. It was really relaxing. Tony bbq'd some chicken and grilled some corn and I made up a new potato dish that turned out soooo good if I may say so myself.

We wish all of you many blessings on the start of your new year! May this be the best year you've had.

Love,

The Dub Family

Christmas Day we went to Mama Gail's and Greg's house. It was a lot of fun! We opened a lot of cool presents and then went to Bill's and Barbara's for our traditional Christmas Dinner of Enchiladas. Yummy!!!
Below are just a few pictures that we took.

Bitsy decided to sneak a sip of egg nog out of Greg's glass. Shhh... it's a secret! Ha ha...

Christmas Eve 2008

This Christmas Eve was spent at my dad and Carolyn's house. My Grandmother Elaine came over, different from in years past, and it was fun! We had some yummy chicken and noodles and took some cute pictures.

This is Carolyn opening her calendar and Grandma's Brag Bag from Kendall.

This is Tony with Kendall. I think they are maybe opening a present.

This is my sister Patricia with Kendall. Patricia was helping Kendall open her present. Kendall was so tired she didn't know what to think.

This is my dad holding Kendall. This is only the second time he has seen her since he works out of state. I thought this was a pretty nice picture.

This is my brother, Stephen, with Kendall. I thought this picture turned out pretty good. Stephen looks like he is enjoying holding Kendall.

This is Great-Grandma Elaine with Kendall. It was nice to be able to get this on camera.
And, this is me with my baby girl.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

how lovely are thy branches. We don't have a tree this year, but you can bet that next year we will have one. We've both been busy with work and the house is still a mess from when we brought stuff home from Tony's uncles house in March or April. I know, I know...

Tony and I spent the past two days Christmas shopping. Oh my gosh did we have a lot to do, we hadn't done much up until this point. But, oh my goodness did we ever get a lot done. I am feeling better about the progress we've made this weekend. I was beginning to feel a little overwhelmed with all that was left to be done. So, we just have about 4 or 5 more presents to get and I'll be getting those when I have off on Tuesday. Now if I could just decide what I want to get. That's the really hard part.

Friday evening we went to Paesano's for my sister Patricia's birthday, we had a good time. Happy Birthday Patricia! I was sad that I left my camera at home so I don't have a picture to post. I set it right next to my purse too! "How is that possible," you ask. Puh-lease, if you know me, you know that I miss things that are right in front of my face all the time. Anyway, Tony, Kendall and I gave Patricia and purse and a new sweater. I thought they were cute. I hope she liked them, she says she does, so that is good!

My mom was nice enough to watch K for us overnight so we got to sleep in a little on Saturday morning. She was keeping her so that Tony and I could get some shopping done. THANK YOU!!! We really got a lot done yesterday. We went all over the place. Hallmark, Tuesday Morning, GameStop, Costco, The Quarry and North Star Mall... Now, anyone who lives in SA knows it is not fun to go to North Star Mall on a Saturday, let alone the Saturday before Christmas. I think some would say we need to be institutionalized just for considering attempting it. While it was VERY crowded and crazy there, we did make it out alive. Phew!!! We went and picked up the baby at my mom's at about 7:30 and came right home and crashed on the couch while watching a movie. We were so tired from our shopping adventures.

This morning we woke up, got ready and went out again. Though I do admit we didn't make it out until about 1:30 due to Kendall getting grouchy at 9:45 and taking a nap until 12:40. We watched another movie this morning and rested up for the adventure we knew we would be having later in the day. :-) So, we finally made it out of the house and went to the new Target at Stone Oak and 281. It is so big and it was pretty crowded, but it worked out great for us. We got all of the presents for Kendall's classmates and teachers and several of our family and friends. So, thank you Target!!! We were there until about 4:45. We decided that we would act like old people and eat dinner at 4:30. ha ha... We wanted to do that so that we could go eat at the restaurant that is over near Target. It is called BJ's, it is where we went for my birthday. I had roast chicken with a baked potato. I brought over half of it home, they give you a ton of food there. Yeah for me, I have lunch or dinner for tomorrow. Yummy!!! Are you done making fun of us for eating so early yet? The laugh may be on you because we didn't have to wait for a seat for dinner.

Well, I guess I better go for now. I forgot I need to label the presents for K's classmates and teachers. Aaaarrrrgghhh!!! ha ha...

Have a great Christmas if I don't blog again before then!

Kendall takes Christmas Pictures

We took pictures of Kendall in her Christmas dress this afternoon. We were taking these pictures for our Christmas cards. Be on the lookout in a mailbox near you! Her Christmas picture is not one of these; we didn't want to ruin the surprise. :-)

Kendall's First Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2008 with The Dub Family
This year we went to Bill and Barbara's Ranch for Thanksgiving; we all had a great time. Unfortunately I accidentally deleted all of the pictures on my camera the second to last night we were there so these are all we had left after taking some more. Enjoy!
Oscar enjoyed sitting out on the patio. I think he was waiting for some deer to come by so he could chase after them.

We took Kendall outside while it was warm to try and get some pretty pictures of her enjoying the beautiful day. She had a great time!!!

Kendall took Uncle Kenny for a walk the last night we were there. It's funny how much smaller than him she is.

Tony got some beautiful pictures of the sunrise our last morning there.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are so thankful for all of our friends and family.

Kendall's First Halloween

So, tonight was Kendall's first Halloween, she was a cute fluffy kitty cat. It was a little warm out tonight and her costume was pretty heavy so she only went to a few houses. We also only went to a few houses because we felt silly saying trick or treat for her and then getting candy which she can't eat. Oscar went with us on our journey through the neighborhood, but because he wanted to run and play with all of the other dogs in the neighborhood on our walk and because it was easier to just carry Kendall rather than pull her out of the stroller at every house, Oscar became the baby while the baby became the pet Kitty. Oscar rode around the neighborhood in Kendall's stroller. Lots of people loved it, he was pretty cute in there, especially with the purple boa we found when we were on our way home from the last house.

After we returned from Trick or Treating we sat out in front of the house and passed out candy to all of the other cute kids in the neighborhood. We met another kitty cat that was Kendall Kitty's twin. She was cute and very sleepy by the time she came by our house.

All in all, tonight's adventures were a lot of fun. We look forward to next year when she can walk to more houses and possibly say Trick or Treat on her own where it won't just look like we are going around so we can get candy for ourselves. Ha ha...

Have a Spooky Halloween!!!!

First St. Patrick's Day

This is Kendall's first St. Patrick's Day. Since she is and we are part Irish, we put her in a cute outfit that says, "Kiss Me, I'm Irish!" and it has a 4 leaf Clover.
